Newsletter – May 2008

Our next meeting will be May 22, at Vetoni’s Restaurant in Gun Barrel City , 6:00pm to
eat, 7:00pm for meeting.  We will not have a guest speaker, instead we are asking
members who have an email that they would like to share or a story, to please share
them with the club.  We will also be discussing our next fundraiser which will take place
after the summer break.  Please feel free to bring a guest or a potential member.

Minutes, April 24, 2008:

President Mark Hall called the meeting to order at 7:10pm.  He gave a short welcome to
members and guest.

Mark led a pray and Connie Blaylock led the pledges.

Mark introduced our guest speaker, Henderson County Republican Chair, Don Geddie.  
Mr. Geddie discussed the county conventions and the resolutions that where presented
during the conventions. He also spoke about Victory 08 and his trip to Lubbock .

State Convention is scheduled for June 16-18.  We have 26 delegates and 24 alternates.

Henderson County has a new election coordinator, Denise Hernandez; Mr. Geddie said
she is working well.

Mr. Geddie introduced the Henderson Co. Republican website coordinator, David Hill.  
David gave web address as www.hendersoncogop.com.

Sara Taylor made announcement, Lone Star Rep. Women is have Borah Van Dormolen as
guest speaker. Ms. Van Dormolen is running for Republican National Committeewomen.  
All are welcome to come here her Thursday, May 8 at Republican Headquarters.

Discussion on fundraiser, Carol Yarboro suggested a Chili Supper in Sept. or Oct.

David Hill talked about an East Texas Republican Rally possible in July; they will need
help to organize it. It will let people know what life will be like under Obama or Clinton.  
John McCain has been invited to speak, are waiting on word from him and are looking at
the Athens area for the event.  More info as it gets closer on the website.

May will be our last meeting before summer break, we will reconvene in August.

Roger Yardley suggested putting a sign outside by door of restaurant to let people know
we are having a meeting.  Carol Yarboro made motion that Scott McKee get a sign, James
Owen made second motion. Passed.

Roger Yardley made motion to adjourn, Dan Gipe made second motion. Passed.

Newsletter – August 2008



It is time to come together again for meetings. Our next meeting is August 28th;
dinner at 6pm, meeting at 7pm.  Our guest speakers will be members that
attended the Conventions. I hope each and everyone will com and bring a guest
to hear our members tell their fun and fulfilling tales.

Minutes for May 22, 2008:

Meeting was called to order by Pres. Mark Hall at 7:10pm.

Prayer was given by Steve Reagan.

Pledges were led by Joseph Blaylock.

Devotional given by Connie Blaylock.

Mark introduced Joan King with Lone Star Republican Women, David Hill, and
Amiee Freeman. They all discussed the July 12, Rally, which brought 3 – 6
counties together to help educate people about the importance of voting.  Rally
to be held at the Cain Center with free admission 11am to 3 pm or later. CCRC
was asked to handle the food sales and vendors.   Joan asked if each club could
donate $100.00 to 200.00 for decorations. She also said she was going to ask
Henderson County Rep. Women to run the registration table and be greeters.
David Hill talked about the possible speakers that would be there, some names
mentioned where McCain, Dewhurst, Cornyn and others.  Amiee Freeman with
Young Rep. Club said their group would be there to help young voters and get
them involved.


Ashley McKee brought us up to date on the fundraiser Scheduled for Sept 27th. It
will be a Chili Supper with all the fixings. Members are asked to sign up for chili,
fixings or desserts; you can contact Ashley or Connie Blaylock. More information
at the August meeting.

It is time for summer break, the club does not meeting in June or July, next
meeting will be in August.

Connie Blaylock made motion to adjourn; Carla Everett made second motion,
adjourned.

For Your Information

Summer is over school is about to start, I hope everyone was able to do the
things they wanted to do.  Now, it is time to get busy and prepare for the
November General Elections.  So, let’s hunker down and get busy!
